The Vermont Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules (LCAR) voted 4-2 to approve the Low and Zero Emission Vehicle Regulation.

The new standard requires that by 2026, 35% of all new cars and light duty vehicles sold in Vermont must be electric. By 2035, all new cars sold in Vermont must have zero emissions.

Medium and heavy duty trucks have a similar mandate but with a longer timeline, 30% of all new trucks and buses sold in Vermont must have zero emissions by the end of the decade.
