The City of Burlington will soon launch a campaign to pass a local carbon tax so that residents will switch to electric heat. South Burlington, Vermont’s second largest city, is following the same path. A charter change hearing is coming to South Burlington in December that could eventually create a local carbon tax for residents and businesses that refuse to scrap their oil and gas heating equipment.
